February 4th, 2020 – Therapeutic Recreation Program
Elizabeth Crisante and Breah Haddon, from the City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation, shared at our recent club meeting how the new Therapeutic Recreation Program was developed for disabled adults and children in Vacaville. They explained the mission and purpose of the program and talked about the many different activities that they are currently doing and those they are planning to do as they grow the program. They have programs already in place for Disabled adults and are working on the Teen programs. They talked about their goal of offering a week long Summer Camp for disabled individuals starting this summer. The cost charged to each participant would be $110 for the week. The actual cost per participant is about $650 so they are looking for donations from the community to help sponsor the camp. Elizabeth and Breah talked about the importance of the summer camp and how much it means to the participants and their families and are looking for donations and volunteers. If you are interested in donating or volunteering you can contact them directly or go the City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation website.
