Rocktoberfest a Success!!

On behalf of Soroptimist International of Vacaville, we would like to thank all those who attended our Rocktoberfest fundraiser on Oct. 22 at Ulatis Community Center.

Beer, brats, a great local band and support from generous local businesses all made for a terrific evening. Because of the generosity of our community, we were able to raise $30,000 from our dinner, live, silent and dessert auctions. These funds will be used to help women and girls in our community through a variety of programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

Our programs include Live Your Dream (supports education and training for women who are single head of households); the Violet Richardson Award (awards girls in high school who are outstanding volunteers), college scholarships and the You Make a Difference Award to honor an outstanding woman in our community.

We also would like to thank Vanden High S Club, the Vanden High Robotics Club Vacaville Christian High S Club and Vacaville Ballet Company for all their help with the dinner. Also thanks to Joe Diaz, our auctioneer who did a terrific job; his Uncle Joe Gates would have been so proud.
